STARCH CONSUMPTION IN CORRUGATED BOARD (ENZYMATIC/COLORIMETRIC METHOD)
Product Details
- The colorimetric adaptation of a simple laboratory test to measure the weight of starch present in the combining adhesive per unit area of corrugated board is described.
- The method is based on the hydrolysis of the starch by an alpha amylase enzyme to maltose and dextrines.
- This method is designed basically for uncoated board. Although wax and sulfur do not interfere with there action, many enzymes are sensitive to heavy metal salts such as the chromium contained in stearator or myristo chrome complex ,or the resorcinol derivatives in certain water-resistant adhesives, which could invalidate the test.
- This method was first published in 1975 as a Provisional Method.
